There are posters around the area that let everyone know she is missing and to encourage people to come forward with any information.

The audience is left on a cliffhanger as they don't know who has been shot. The title of the film and the institutional information then swipes up onto the black screen.
Detailed Narrative:
Todorov's Theory: At the beginning of the film, everything is normal. Molly and Chloe are hanging out at Molly's house and having a good time. Chloe leaves her friend's house and starts walking home. It is dark now, and she decides to go down an alleyway to get home because it's quicker. This is the equilibrium of the story as everything is as it should be and the audience are introduced to the main character's and setting.
As Chloe is walking home, someone suddenly puts their hand over her mouth and kidnaps her. This is the disruption as it disrupts the happiness and normality.
Molly realises that she is missing when she messages her to ask if she got home safely. She then tries to ring her mobile but there is no answer. She then rings Chloe's house phone and her mum answers. Chloe is still not home yet and now her parents are worried too.  This is the realisation as everyone starts to realise that there is a problem and there is chaos. They keep phoning the Chloe's mobile, but there is still no answer. She has been missing for 3 weeks now, and there are missing posters all around the local area asking for people to come forward if they have any information. Molly manages to get ahold of the girl on her mobile, only it's not her. A deep voice asks for a ransom fee in order to get Chloe back safely. Molly receives a video from Chloe's kidnapper, demanding a ransom fee so she goes to an old abandoned car park to hand over the money and get Chloe back. This is the restored order because Molly has gone about fixing the problem, in the hope that everything will go back to normal.
Chloe is being held at gun point so Molly shoots her gun towards the kidnapper. The screen then fades to black so the audience don't know who has been shot...This is the equilibrium again because everything is restored back to normal and the characters can go back to being happy again but it's also left on a cliffhanger.
Levi Strauss' Theory: The main binary opposite evident in this film is good vs evil. The friend and the girl's mum are good and the kidnapper is evil.
Intended Target Audience:
The intended target audience of this action thriller film are 15-24 year olds as this is the age group that like to watch a lot of films and enjoy doing so with friends and family. The film trailer will appeal to both males and females in this age category as they both enjoy action thriller films. However, this action thriller film will appeal to females more because the two main characters within the text are female and they are represented as normal, everyday teenagers just like the audience. A large percentage of the audience for action thriller films fall into the E category on the JICNAR scale because they are unemployed or the D category if they have a part-time job. The secondary target audience for this action thriller film will be everyone else who watches it, such as people with apprenticeships or are employed. Some of the secondary target audience will fall into A and B on the JICNAR scale as they may have high paying jobs. The majority of these will be parents who are persuaded to go and see the action thriller with their son or daughter.
Key Characters:
  • The victim of the kidnapping (Chloe) is a female who will be threatened by the villain, the audience will emphasise with her and she is the weak and vulnerable character.
  • The girl will be quite young between the age of 11 and 18. Through the costume she will be wearing casual clothing with jeans which is a typical stereotype for teenagers.
  • The main character is just a normal teenager on her way back home, listening to music, loudly and on her mobile phone chatting to her mates. This character will be in the wrong place at the wrong time, going from normal scenario to being captured by a villain.
  • The hero is the girl's friend (Molly) who tries to rescue her from the villain.
  • A constant battle between the hero and villain as the friend gets closer and closer to finding her.
  • The friend will be the character which the audience want to win the battle and are supporting him through the film, and the audience know how he is feeling where as the villain is the disliked character in the film.
  • The villain will be the main character who commits the crime and he creates the narrative disruption. He will be extremely clever in how he goes about the kidnapping.
  • The villains identity won't be revealed to the audience as he will be wearing a mask to cover his face and be wearing black, dark and dull clothing.
  • Holding a gun but is dressed relatively smartly to show his authority and power. He will have a foreign accent to sound more strange  and weird.
  • Low key lighting, shadows and quick cuts will be used to represent this character as evil.
Mise en Scene:I want to create a dull type of atmosphere, almost eerie and strange which is crucial in a thriller to make the audience feel on the edge of there seat and involved with the film.Through props we will use guns, posters and a mask.Guns are used commonly in action thriller films therefore we will use some as a prop to create drama and violence.Another prop we will use are posters to indicate that the main character has gone missing. For the villain we are going to use a mask so his identity is not revealed this is a common convention used in action thrillers it will also create a suspense of mystery and atmosphere.

Locations:

Through locations there are four key locations that we may consider. As a production team we have chosen many different locations which are local to where we live and in places which will look good visually for our film.To be professional as a production team we will have to seek permission for some of these locations so we are able to film in these locations. For most of our film trailer we will have to film during the night which could lead to potential issues with the lighting and cinematography.Locations that we have considered are the Birmingham Library which will be used at the beginning for a establishing shot.Other mysterious and dark locations will be used such as alleyways, park and a car park.We will also use a house for the beginning of the film where the main character is with her friend.
